Laubham Running for 96th District Rep
A newcomer to politics spoke today about his campaign for state representative of the 96th District. Republican candidate Landon Laubhan is challenging incumbent Mike Bell for the seat.
Laubhan said making cuts to government programs and taxes is the answer to improving Illinois' fiscal situation. He also believes decreasing corporate taxes and regulations will increase job growth, which in turn will increase the state's tax base.
Laubhan opposes extending the income tax increase, and even suggests lowering it from its original set income tax rate.
"They're sitting here telling me that this is the best that we can do. This is the best that we can generate. This is all the jobs that we can generate in 2014. To me that is unacceptable." Laubhan said.
According to incumbent Mike Bell, the Republican party is not backing Laubhan for the seat. He also said that they are only backing Bell himself.
