Quinn Launches New Job Creation Initiative
Gov. Pat Quinn launched a new program designed to create jobs today. It's called the Cyber Challenge, and it's a statewide cyber security competition that he says will fill open jobs in the cyber security workforce. It's all part of the governor's plan to increase public safety and help residents find jobs.
The challenge will include three online tests. The top scorers will be invited to the championship competition.
Quinn hopes this will open up jobs for highly-skilled veterans and students.
"We need to recurit many, many men and women to a very, very important place," Quinn said. "That is to make sure they are on the front line of protecting our nation and its national security from any type of cyber attacks."
Top finishers in the competition will be offered additional training and eventually a job in the cyber security field.
