U of I Gets $100 Million Donation
The University of Illinois College of Engineering is getting a big donation. Chancellor Phyllis Wise announced Monday that the Grainger Foundation has pledged $100 million to support the college. Part of the money will create an endowment to attract top-notch professors and scholars. It will also be used to help pay for renovations to a lab at the school's engineering campus.
The contribution is made in memory and honor of William Grainger, a 1919 graduate of the U of I in electrical engineering, and the founder of W.W. Grainger, Inc.
