Jingle Bell Run Benefits Arthritis Care
Before sitting down for their Thanksgiving feasts Thursday, some were up and running Saturday.
About 700 people participated in the Jingle Bell Run and Walk at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. Proceeds to go Springfield Clinic and its effort against bone diseases.
While they fell just short of the $24,000 goal, $21,000 isn't too bad.
At the last 5K in the capital area for 2012, there was quite the array of characters out and about.
"My sister was an elf, and another was Santa," runner Justin York said.
"I had to cut back on cookies and milk a lot," a runner who identified himself as Santa said. "I didn't do bad on time. I managed to run the whole way. This outfit is miserably hot. I could have done better in shorts, but nobody wants to see Santa in shorts."
Today's race was the 24th annual Jingle Bell Run and Walk. 2013 isn't too far away, so lace up your shoes.
