UIS Students Trick-or-Treat for Food Bank
Some UIS students turned Halloween fun into a worthwhile cause by going door-to-door and collecting canned goods. The students are part of a competition between student groups involved in the UIS Holiday Stars project. It's a month-long collection initiative that benefits the Central Illinois Foodbank.
"Basically, last week we went out and canvassed the neighborhood and gave out door tags so people in the houses knew what we're doing," UIS student Nick Nasuta said. "Today, we came out and went to those houses to collect the canned goods we hope that they have."
The overall goal is to collect more than 8,000 pounds of food for the Central Illinois Foodbank by December.
