Shell Delays Arctic Drilling
The search for oil in the Arctic has come to a halt after problems with safety equipment.
Shell Oil volunteered to install a dome designed to help clean up potential oil spills, but it was damaged during testing.
Now, Shell officials say they will not drill this year in what they believe is oil-bearing rock.
The oil company says the time required to repair the dome, along with steps they would have to take to protect local whaling operations, would delay drilling too much for the 2012-13 season.
They plan to pick up the operation for the next season.
