Every week during the school year, NewsChannel 20 and United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America honor an outstanding athlete in Central Illinois. The athlete is honored with a short segment on the Sunday 10 p.m. news and an Athlete of the Week Award plaque.

Lindsay Ippel
Senior
Millikin University

Lindsay Ippel has essentially re-written the record books at Millikin University. She holds 18 women's basketball records, including leading scorer for a career and season, most points in a game, career field goal percentage, and much, much more. On top of that, Ippel holds eight CCIW records as well. She was part of the 2005 Big Blue National Championship team -- that just one year after helping lead St. Teresa High School to a perfect 33-0 record and State Title as a senior. In addition to her tremendous on-court talent, Ippel is highly skilled in the classroom. Carrying a 3.54 GPA in Nursing, Ippel was named the Academic All-America of the Year by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
