Katie is excited to return home to Illinois. Originally from Palatine, Katie earned her bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Katie also holds a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She plans to bring her keen interest in both politics and journalism to her new job at ABC NewsChannel 20.

Now that she's a citizen of the capital city, she hopes her reporting will make an impact with all those who live and work in Springfield. Katie is also looking forward to learning about, and reporting on, the smaller communities in the area. She spent the last year working at a television station in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Katie believes the experience she earned covering Southwest Wisconsin and Southeast Minnesota will serve her well as she gets to know the people and communities of Central Illinois.
