Illinois Hospitals Illinois hospitals caring for high numbers of medicaid patients could soon get much needed federal dollars.Governor Blagojevich signed the 2009 hospital assessment into law today.Once approved by the federal centers for medicare and medicaid services. The measure is expected to bring in 655-million dollars in federal matching funds for the state.The amount of money a hospital receives is based on the various services it provides to medicaid patients.

A political action group is blasting Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain over his oil policy. Members of moveon.org held a rally today in Champaign. The group is targeting McCain and the Republicans for what they call unneeded tax breaks for oil companies.The rally was held at the Illinois terminal to stress the need for increasing public transportation, alternative energy, and conservation.Over 100 rallies like this were held across the country today pushing for investment in a "clean" energy future.

Officials with the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office tell us they are revamping medical care at the jail in light of a list of recommendations they are making public this afternoon. The list of eight recommendations comes from Dr. Ronald Shansky. Shansky is a Chicago-based private consultant the county hired to assess medical care at the jail.
